Exploring the Art of Song with Imani
Global Voices travels through the cultures of India; Ghana, Mali and Senegal, West Africa; Zimbabwe, South Africa; Brazil and Cuba. Through the use of sounds, songs, stories, rhythms, hands-on with instruments and audience participation, this program educates youth in a way that makes learning fun!
Grades K - 8
Jazz Jam with Imani
Imani's interactive program features an introduction to the many sounds of the voice through call and response. Students will explore the origin of jazz through work songs, spirituals, blues, swing and behop, while learning a song from each era. This program concludes with the audience joining Imani in a real jazz jam!

WORKSHOPS
World Music
Interactive workshop which promotes the understanding of other cultures through traditional songs/chants. An intensive extension of the performance exploring the learning process of world traditional songs/chants, and vocal technique.
Grades 2 - 12
World Rhythms
Intensive interactive workshop with the use of hand percussive instruments, learning varied rhythms in 4/4 and 6/8 timings.

Professional Development Opportunities for Teachers
Exploring World Cultures Through Music
Introduce students to the richness of the cultures of India, SeneGambia (a West African region), Brazil, Yoruba people of Cuba, Ghana, and Zimbabwe through children's songs, rhythms, and activities. Through these songs, students learn about the lifestyles and values of children in faraway countries and come to appreciate the similarities and differences between these cultures and their own. This workshop provides direct links to the National Standards, objectives and benchmarks. Imani shows you how to teach the songs and activities to students. DHIMIKI and IYIPO AYÉ, compact discs and books containing lyrics and background information on the cultures along with Teacher Study Guides, are available for classroom use.

Special Education
This workshop introduces children with developmental delays including, mental retardation, autism, speech impairments and physical disabilities to traditional world music and rhythm. The children learn sounds, songs, different rhythms using hand percussive instruments and create their own music. Each class is tailored to meet the unique needs of the children.
